Shrewsbury, Mass., begins sewer maintenance in Colonial Drive and Boylston Circle areas

(UI) — Sewer system maintenance is underway in the Colonial Drive and Boylston Circle neighborhoods as part of Shrewsbury’s ongoing effort to improve its infrastructure and reduce groundwater infiltration.

The work, conducted by National Water Main Cleaning Company, began on Jan. 13, and is expected to continue through July 2025.

Crews will focus on cleaning, inspecting, and repairing sewer mains, service connections, and manholes in the area. This includes testing and sealing pipes, video inspections, and open-cut repairs. Specific locations include Colonial Drive at Coachman Ridge Road, Forest Hill Drive, Tory Lane, and Boylston Circle.

The project aims to identify and address structural defects in the sewer system to reduce excess wastewater flow to the regional Westborough Wastewater Treatment Plant. By proactively repairing these issues, the town hopes to prevent future sewer system failures and improve overall reliability.
