Fairfield, Conn., to begin $31 million East Trunk sewer line replacement in May
(UI) — A long-planned replacement of the East Trunk sewer line is set to begin in May 2025, with construction expected to last about 18 months. The project will replace aging sewer infrastructure to improve wastewater system reliability, reduce maintenance costs, and prevent future disruptions.
The work will primarily impact residents along Kenard Street, Kenwood Avenue, Dalewood Avenue, Ash Street, and Grasmere Avenue. Construction will follow a staggered schedule, limiting neighborhood disruptions to one to three months per area. During work hours, affected streets may have one-way traffic and a temporary ban on on-street parking.
The $30.8 million project is jointly funded by the Town of Fairfield and the Water Pollution Control Authority, each contributing $13.5 million. A $3.8 million state grant will cover the remaining costs.
