Colorado Springs begins $11 million storm drainage project in Park Vista South
(UI) — Construction is underway on storm drainage improvements in the Park Vista South neighborhood of Colorado Springs, a project aimed at addressing flooding and public safety concerns along the Templeton Gap Floodway.

The work, a joint effort between the City of Colorado Springs Stormwater Enterprise (SWENT) and El Paso County, began on February 3 and is expected to continue through late 2026.
As part of the project, the western intersection of Siferd Boulevard and Date Street is now permanently closed. The three legs of Siferd Boulevard and Date Street are being reconstructed into cul-de-sacs, designed to maintain access for fire trucks and emergency vehicles.
Drivers in the area should expect delays and use alternate routes, including:
- Hollow Road to Half Turn Road for access to Academy Boulevard
- Austin Bluffs to the north section of Siferd Boulevard to Hopeful Drive
Once the cul-de-sacs are complete, work will continue to stabilize the creek up to Hopeful Drive. In fall 2025, the Hopeful Drive bridge over the creek will be replaced, requiring a full closure of the roadway for approximately nine months.
Wildcat Construction is handling the project, which is funded by $11 million from El Paso County’s American Rescue Plan Act funds and the City of Colorado Springs’ Stormwater Enterprise funds.
