Peabody General Contractors to host free trench safety training in Lockhart, Texas

(UI) — Peabody General Contractors, in partnership with the Austin Chapter of the National Utility Contractors Association (NUCA) and OSHA, will host its annual Live Trench Training event on Oct. 4 in Lockhart, Texas. The event aims to prevent workplace fatalities among utility contractors by providing hands-on trench safety training.

The free training will feature experienced instructors from NUCA and OSHA, guiding participants through safety scenarios and interactive stations. Instruction will be provided in both English and Spanish, covering topics such as trench boxes, hydraulic shoring, soil classification, emergency preparedness, and confined space entry.

“Safety is our top priority at Peabody General Contractors,” said Clint Eskridge, general manager. “We are committed to providing our employees and the entire industry with the tools and knowledge they need to stay safe on the job.”

The event is open to all utility construction workers in the area. It will cover underground utility locates, sloping and benching, trench boxes, hydraulic shoring and aluminum shield systems, hydro excavation, confined space entry, horizontal boring, slide rail, emergency preparedness and soil classification.
