Michael Baker International Makes Leadership Change
Michael Baker International today announced the promotion of Michael J. Conaboy, P.E., to Regional Director for the firm’s West Region, succeeding Anna Lantin, P.E., who will transition to the newly created role of Senior Vice President of Business Development, where she will support Conaboy in focusing on nurturing and growing client relationships and business in the region.
In his new role, Conaboy will be based in the firm’s Santa Ana, California, office and report directly to Michael Baker’s Chief Operating Officer Dale R. Spaulding, P.E. He will focus on growing the West Region and is responsible for regional leadership, marketing, business development, resource allocation and acquisition, and the overall profitability and efficiency of the nearly 20 regional offices across Arizona, California, Nevada and Washington.

Conaboy’s career with Michael Baker spans 23 years and most recently saw him serve in the role of National Practice Lead for the Water Practice. In this role, Conaboy was responsible for the implementation of the firm’s water strategies through collaboration with the regional water and management teams to expand the water practice related to the areas of water/wastewater, water treatment, distribution/collection, green infrastructure, CSO water quality, resiliency, and surface water expertise.
Conaboy began his career in Michael Baker’s Alexandria, Virginia, office, where he worked on a project for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and has since advanced to numerous senior-level management positions at the firm. He previously served as Area Executive for New York and New Jersey, where he oversaw professionals in planning, traffic, ITS, GIT, water, environmental, civil/highway, architecture, structures, geotechnical, pavement, and construction management. Conaboy also served as Vice President and Office Executive for the firm’s New Jersey operation which has offices in Hamilton and Newark.
He has served as an adjunct professor of hydrology and hydraulics for graduate-school programs at Drexel University and the University of Pennsylvania, and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Drexel University and a Master of Science degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from The George Washington University in Washington, D.C.
