American Water Plans $6 Billion in Water Infrastructure Upgrades

In honor of Infrastructure Week, American Water has announced it will invest nearly $6 billion dollars over the next five years to upgrade the company’s water infrastructure.

“American Water will invest about $6 billion dollars in the next five years in our nationwide system of pipes, plants, and pumps,” said Susan Story, CEO, American Water. “We are committed to this level of investment because it’s critical to maintaining the service that our customers both demand and deserve. We are also committed to running our business as efficiently as possible to ensure that our customers’ bills remain affordable.”

As part of the company’s $6 billion investment, American Water state subsidiaries across the U.S. will replace aging infrastructure, upgrade existing or construct new facilities and ensure all infrastructure complies with the latest fire protection and water quality standards.
