Infinity Reamer Features Field-Replaceable Cutters

Infinity Tool MFG has introduced a PDC (polycrystalline diamond compact) horizontal directional drilling rock reamer with cutters that can be replaced in the field.
In addition to this time-saving feature, the new Infinity Shark rock reamer provides increased penetration rates up to five times faster than conventional reaming methods, said Keith Jackson, international sales manager for Infinity.
The Infinity Shark reamer is available in sizes ranging from 14 to 48 inches. Cutting segments are the same for all similar sizes of Shark reamers.
“Each segment consists of PDC cutters and carbide shock studs,” said Jackson. “There are three cutters per segment. The segments are supplied in a kit that are installed with a hex key; the only tool needed to replace a segment.”
While there are brands of PDC reamers that use blades that can be replaced in the field, Jackson says Infinity is the only company that makes reamers with replaceable tooth segments.
“Our PDC reamer’s design is covered by an international patent that provides numerous benefits,” Jackson continued. “It provides faster completion of reaming with as much as 12 inches extra diameter added in one pass.
“The cutters’ design requires less torque than other reamers, reducing strain on the drill rig and less vibration of drilling rods. Shark’s design produces holes to a consistent size. And because there are no moving parts, reliability is increased.”
The Shark PDC reamer is available globally, with great activity in North America, Europe and the Middle East.
