GeoTree Solutions

geotreesolutions.com

GeoTree Solutions, a leading global provider of highly engineered solutions for repairing, rehabilitating, strengthening, and protecting critical infrastructure spanning the water and wastewater, oil and gas, industrial, and civil sectors, developed its TEC Talks series at the beginning of 2020 as an alternative to face-to-face continuing education sessions.

As networking opportunities slowly began to return in 2021, the company chose to continue the live, online TEC Talks program, due to positive customer feedback about the one-hour information-sharing and question-answering about GeoTree Solutions’ offerings.

“We found our TEC talks to be hugely successful as part of our mission to not only talk about products, but the use and technology behind them,” said John Hepfinger, president, GeoTree Solutions.

After attending, registered attendees can request a certificate that can be used to submit for one PDH hour. TEC Talks are also available on-demand, after the live presentation.

Sessions scheduled for the last three months of the year include: Pipe Rehab – Geopolymer Shotcrete vs Portland Cement Shotcrete (Oct. 13), Top 8 Craziest Projects with Composites (Nov. 9 and 11), and Value Engineering your Trenchless Pipe Project – Do You Want to do it Before or After the Bid? (Dec. 1)

Lockwood, Anderson & Newnam

lan-inc.com

The City of Jarrell, located 40 miles from Austin, Texas, has selected planning, engineering and program management firm Lockwood, Andrews & Newnam, Inc. (LAN) to prepare an alternatives engineering report for a new wastewater treatment plant.

Spurred by Apple, Oracle, Tesla and other tech companies moving to Austin and a thriving housing market, the City of Jarrell, has experienced significant population growth over the last few years. In addition, average wastewater flows at the city’s existing wastewater treatment plant is nearing an important capacity benchmark established by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).

To meet future growth and TCEQ mandates, the city is planning to build a new 26-million-gallon-a-day wastewater treatment plant on a greenfield site. LAN was chosen to evaluate and recommend alternative technologies that will reduce the plant’s operations cost over the long term without increasing the capital costs to build the plant.

The step before the preliminary engineering report, an alternatives engineering report is the equivalent of a 10-percent design.

Takeuchi

takeuchi-us.com

Takeuchi’s compact excavators and compact track loaders have been recognized as having the lowest cost of ownership in their machine categories for 2021 by Equipment Watch, a database and information provider for the construction and heavy equipment industries.

EquipmentWatch’s Lowest Cost of Ownership (LCO) Awards leverage third-party, unbiased data to identify equipment that is projected to offer the lowest cost of ownership in the next five years.

Takeuchi’s compact excavator product line includes 14 machines that span from the 2,535-pound TB210R to the 34,646-pound TB2150. The company’s five compact track loaders range from the 1,841-pound TL6R up to the 4,107-pound TL12V2. All Takeuchi machines are based upon a design philosophy that centers on Four Pillars: performance, durability, operator comfort and serviceability.

“We take a great deal of pride in designing, engineering and building quality equipment that people can depend on – not just for today, but also for the years ahead,” said Jeff Stewart, president of Takeuchi-US. “Receiving these awards for our compact excavators and track loaders is extremely gratifying. It shows our current and future customers that purchasing a Takeuchi machine is a wise choice that can help improve not just their productivity, but also their ROI.”

Barbco Reaches Milestone in Collecting ‘Aluminum Cans for Burned Children’

Barbco Inc, a world-class manufacturer of capital equipment for the trenchless excavation, horizontal directional drilling, and underground manufacturing industries, believes in giving back to its community.

One such big-hearted effort supports Aluminum Cans for Burned Children (ACBC) in Northeast Ohio. Over the past two years, employees have contributed over 1,000 pounds of aluminum cans, dropping them in bins located at Barbco’s East Canton, Ohio, headquarters facility.

Recycling the cans is a major source of funding for ACBC’s mission of providing physical and emotional rehabilitation of pediatric burn survivors. It does this through programs like Camp Cheerful, in Strongsville, Ohio, which offers burn survivors and their families a variety of recreational activities, such as canoeing, horseback riding, hiking, and swimming, that encourage confidence and independence, and create opportunities for lifelong friendships.

In addition to employers, like Barbco, and community groups, more than 95 fire stations in the area are drop-off places for ACBC recycling. The fire departments also join ACBC in partnering with area school districts and other community organizations on the other part of its mission: to educate school-age children about preventing fires in their homes and how to respond if one breaks out.

The CNH Industrial Foundation is presenting sponsor of the event, and CASE and CNH employees volunteered during the week of August 2 in support of a variety of construction projects.

“We see the Women Build project as something that is extremely beneficial for Racine, and critically important in building strong and resilient communities that support family growth and development,” said Athena Campos, CNH Industrial Foundation board member, and head of market development for CASE Construction Equipment.
