The Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) presented 28 member companies with its 2020 Advocates Program Gold award for achieving the highest level of participation in grassroots mobilization and outreach. In addition, AGCO Corporation and Custom Products of Litchfield Inc, received the Advocates Program’s highest honor, the Pillar of the Industry award, for reaching Gold status for five consecutive years.

“During a year when our nation has faced historic challenges, we have seen how critical equipment manufacturers are to the U.S. economy,” said Dennis Slater, AEM president. “The 2.8 million men and women of our industry have been essential in keeping first responders and critical supplies moving during this months-long pandemic.”

The AEM Advocates Program recognizes and celebrates AEM member companies that help advance the industry’s policy priorities, including participating in its state and federal advocacy efforts, public affairs initiatives, and grassroots advocacy campaign, I Make America.

“Equipment manufacturers are not only the backbone of the American economy, but they play an essential role in building, powering and feeding our country,” said Kip Eideberg, senior vice president of Government and Industry Relations for AEM.

“Because of our member companies’ active involvement, we ensured that equipment manufacturers were designated as essential businesses and kept their operations running. As our nation continues to navigate the extraordinary set of challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, we will keep telling our industry’s story to the 117th Congress and the incoming administration.”

With the aim of further developing the company, Bregal Unternehmerkapital has acquired the shares in RELINEEUROPE.

“As a company with an international focus, we now have the opportunity to continue leading the group towards sustainable growth and ongoing success. Volvo

One of the top-performing Volvo Construction Equipment dealers in the United States is expanding its territory. Detroit-based Alta Equipment Group has purchased the construction equipment assets of Vantage Equipment, based in Syracuse, N.Y.

Initially, Alta is offering Volvo CE products and services from three New York locations – Batavia, Latham, and Syracuse – covering most of the State, excluding Westchester County, the counties and boroughs of New York City and Long Island. Alta will build upon the established presence and expert personnel Vantage has long cultivated in the region, and further develop the Volvo CE brand in the region.

Alta is an award-winning dealer with a reputation for innovation and the capability to provide forward-looking solutions to customer needs. A member of the Volvo CE network serving Michigan since 2009, the company has successfully expanded its territory to include Central and Northern Illinois and Florida, and now boasts 22 construction equipment locations. Alta was recognized as Volvo CE’s 2018 “Dealer of the Year” in North America.

In other news, Alta Equipment Group is also playing a role in expansion of Volvo Certified Used (VCU), opening the program’s fourth location, in Jacksonville, Fla.

At Volvo Certified Used Centers, off-lease Volvo equipment undergoes a rigorous 140-plus point inspection from certified dealer technicians and is refurbished to OEM standards using genuine parts. All factory updates are completed, and the machines are packaged with a 6-month/1,200-hour Powertrain warranty and a free, one-year subscription to Volvo’s ActiveCare Direct telematics service. They also qualify for Volvo’s Lifetime Frame and Structure Warranty.

“The construction industry has seen an increase in used equipment purchases in recent years, and the trend has accelerated in 2020 with the uncertainty caused by the pandemic,” said Tara Stryker, director of Used Equipment, Sales Region Americas for Volvo CE. “With a Volvo Certified Used machine, you know exactly what you’re getting so it makes that decision easier.”

The entire process is overseen by Volvo CE in partnership with the dealerships, like Alta Equipment, which owns and operates the newest center. Putting people who know equipment in charge is different from many competitors’ programs that are managed by the financial arm of the company.

“We run this program like we’re spending the customer’s money, and we won’t spend their dollars unwisely,” said Stryker. “We’re committed to lowering the total cost of ownership for our customers.”

With the Southeast U.S. having more Volvo pre-owned equipment than any other region in the country, the Jacksonville location made perfect sense for the new VCU center. Alta was also a great fit because of the priority it puts on remarketing equipment, and the convenient interstate and airport access of its Jacksonville site.

Alta invested in major facility upgrades for the transition, including clearing land; installing a track press, paint booth, sandblaster and wash rack; and performing electrical and plumbing updates. Its employees have been to other locations for training, and Alta is hiring additional painters and mechanics.
