CASE G Series Upgrades Boost Performance, Connectivity, Intelligence, Uptime

CASE Construction Equipment introduced comprehensive enhancements to its entire line of G Series wheel loaders to improve performance and productivity, increase uptime, and empower the operator with greater control and understanding of the machine and its work.

An all-new touchscreen display provides tablet-like access to all critical machine settings and operational data – simplifying performance and allowing operators to adapt more quickly to real-time conditions.

This includes new, adjustable electro-hydraulic controls that allow the operator to independently set lift and tilt responsiveness to match operator preference and loading situations. Each function can be set separately to smooth, moderate, or aggressive within the new touchscreen monitor.

A hallmark of the new CASE G Series enhancements are three new color-coded, configurable buttons on the right armrest that allow the operator to interact with pre-programmed machine settings or functions – such as the all-new payload screen, rearview camera, differential lock or declutch, and strobe activation – to further simplify operation.

A new Smart power mode delivers high performance and an enhanced operating experience through improved communication between the engine and transmission, based on workload. This also helps achieve smoother shifting, reduced tire wear and up to 10-percent fuel savings, compared to the other, “Max,” mode.

Operators can also take advantage of new electro-hydraulic parallel lift functionality (Z-bar and XR models) across all boom configurations that assists in improving material retention and loading operations, by automatically maintaining the angle and position of the bucket or forks. Activating Ride Control in this mode further minimizes the risk of the material shifting while loading or transporting.

The all-new payload system is fully integrated into the loader’s primary display, and provides bucket weight, pass counts, accumulated/running weight, job data and more, for high-volume loading and production environments.

Other advances in the G Series involve remote capabilities, such as diagnostics, updating software and clearing codes, can significantly improve machine uptime.

CASE accomplishes this through the new SiteConnect Module, along with the new SiteManager App (iOS and Android), which connects the owner’s phone or device to the machine, to enable remote analysis. Certified CASE technicians then diagnose the health of each connected machine and determine whether the issue can be addressed remotely (such as clearing codes or updating software) or requires a trip to the machine.

Optimizing tire life and fuel consumption, the all-new Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) features individual sensors that mount to the valve stem of each tire, along with a receiver module that communicates each tire’s pressure onto the display and alerts when it is outside of a set range.

New Cat Wheel Loaders Deliver Increase Productivity, Lower Maintenance Costs

Caterpillar introduced new wheel loader models with an expanded technology platform to increase machine performance and improve operating efficiency.

Offering premium performance in the 10- to 12-ton (9- to 11-tonne) wheel loader class, the new 980 and 982 medium wheel loaders are up to 10-percent more productive, with lower maintenance costs up to 20 percent, when compared to the previous 980M and 982M powershift models.

Extended fluid and filter change intervals on the Cat 980 and 982 reduce maintenance costs up to 20 percent and by up to 25% percent on the XE models. All maintenance intervals are now scheduled in 1000-hour increments, eliminating service downtime every 500 hours. All models offer convenient access to hydraulic & electrical service centers and grouped lube points for fast and easy servicing.

New to this class of medium wheel loaders, the Cat 980 XE and 982 XE models feature a Caterpillar designed and manufactured continuous variable transmission (CVT) that delivers increased fuel efficiencies of up to 35 percent, and lower maintenance costs up to 25 percent, compared to the previous models.

Standard Cat Payload with Assist on all 980 and 982 series loaders provides an accurate weighing of bucket payloads, so operators can load to target the first time every time. This new technology includes low-lift-weigh and manual tip-off functions.

These models also introduce the standard Application-Profiles, in which the press of one button sets multiple machine parameters to optimize settings for the application at hand. Customized profiles can be created to fit customer-specific cases. Selectable on-screen Job Aids, along with a streamlined new controls layout, promotes ease of operation to help all operators be more productive.

Remote services technologies on the new Cat medium wheel loaders can save service trips to the jobsite and ensure the machine operates at peak performance. Remote Troubleshoot connects the machine to the dealer’s service department over-the-air to quickly diagnose fault codes without on-machine cable connection.

Remote Flash ensures the wheel loaders are operating with the most up-to-date software while working around the production schedule. Update files are pushed to the machine in the background and installation can be initiated from the Cat Remote Services Web Portal by the customer in a safe manner, reducing impact on production schedules.

The loaders’ new dashboard and high-resolution touchscreen display provide intuitive and user-friendly loader control for enhanced performance. A seat-mounted electrohydraulic joystick steering system delivers precise control, with minimal arm movements to increase comfort and loading accuracy.

Another new feature is a push-to-start system that requires a valid Operator-ID to crank the engine. Operator ID works with a passcode input on the display or with the optional Cat Bluetooth key. It can act as a machine security system with programmable operating restriction.
