John Deere’s Latest Final Tier 4 G-Series Skid Steers Lineup Features Customer-Driven Designs

John Deere introduces four Final Tier 4 G-Series skid steers – 312 GR (51-hp), 314GR (51-hp), 316GR (65-hp) and 318GR (65-hp) – along with one compact track loader, the 317G (65-hp). The newest machines from the company were designed to level the playing field for the current rental, agricultural material handling, and construction and landscape customers. The five machines are chockfull of customer-requested features designed to improve operator and machine productivity and uptime, while lowering daily operating costs.

Gregg Zupancic, product marketing manager for John Deere Construction and Forestry said the input from customers resulted in machines with increased durability, higher engine power, improved fuel capacity and updated cab and productivity features.

The G-Series feature an improvement in horsepower-to-weight ratios as well as optimized boom design that enables lift heights surpassing 10 feet on the vertical lift models, and a 20 percent increase in breakout forces on the radial-lift models. The customized option of a radial or vertical lift allows customers to choose the system most practical for their application needs. All G-Series machines also provide 11 percent additional fuel capacity over previous models.

The G-Series boasts the new John Deere designed operator station, which features a swing-out cab door for a wide-open entry way; flat floors for easier entry and exit with more foot and legroom; sealed and pressurized cabs and floors to minimize dust and excess noise; and a foot well clean-out that makes debris management easier, minimizing maintenance and downtime.

In addition to a modest rear-hood design that expands rear views, the 314G, 318G and 317G feature a new vertical-lift design providing all-around visibility with clear sight lines above and below the boom to enable easier grading in tight spaces. The 314G boasts a 1,750-lb rated operating capacity; the 318G has a 1,945-lb rated operating capacity; and, the powerful 317G features a 2,125-lb rated operating capacity.

The 312GR and 316GR, with a 1,550-lb and 1,750-lb rated operating capacity, respectively, use a radial-lift option that offers an elite one-person boom lockout system for safety, which can be activated from within the cab. The lift system was designed with lower maintenance and optimal digging performance in mind, making it ideal when more reach is needed at mid-range lift heights. Both machines are also well-suited for work in small areas or indoor operations.

Operators can look forward to 24 percent more engine power in the 316GR, 318GR and 317G, as well as a high-performance Yanmar Final Tier 4 engine and hydraulic powertrain for maximum pushing power, and boom and bucket productivity. The optimized power-to-weight ratio also assists in delivering more usable power, resulting in faster cycle times on the job site.

The newest skid steer economy models 312GR (radial lift) and 314GR (vertical lift) include a set of standard features for the entry-level customer, and the machines were built upon the premises of simplicity, reliability and durability.

The higher performance 316GR and 318G models offer numerous customer-driven features including 2-speed; air conditioning; electrohydraulic (EH) joystick controls; an enhanced lighting package; and, a new self-level and ride control combination that features shock-absorbing boom cylinder to cushion bumps, thus helping retain full bucket loads while navigating rough terrain. In addition, both models offer flexible control choices that allow contractors to choose between standard foot and hand controls, optional hands-only controls, or enhanced EH joystick controls that can be switched between ISO- and H-patter

All G-Series models are compatible with more than 100 available John Deere Worksite Pro attachments for optimal job site performance. 844-809-1508,
