Fort Worth sewers get overhaul
Sewer lines will soon be getting a major overhaul in the city of Fort Worth, TX. The city council approved a $446,192 engineering contract with White Rock Consultants to begin work on the new improvement project. Fort Worth is paying for the project using money already budgeted in the Water and Sewer Fund.
To help decrease street flooding and the load on the sewer lines, a technology to inspect the sewer system will be used. The city is using sonar technology, HD video and 3D laser to help inspects its largest sewer lines.
Whereas in the past, workers would have to dig down and drill into the pipe to measure the corrosion to determine how much of the pipe is in working order, now White Rock Consultants will use the resulting data to assess areas of weakness and clear out debris that causes problems.
