New report shows Hudson Tunnel Project supports $4.5 billion in economic output

The Gateway Development Commission (GDC) has published a new economic impact analysis of the Hudson Tunnel Project (HTP), finding that the work currently underway will support 20,200 direct and indirect jobs while generating $4.5 billion in economic output and $1.7 billion in labor income. The report numbers are in reference to the five construction contracts currently active on the project.

“These first five contracts will enable major construction over the next thirteen years, as GDC sets the stage for tunneling under the Hudson River and building a viaduct, fan plants, railroad bridges, and much more,” GDC stated in its report. “Current and future construction will continue to drum up business for domestic suppliers and manufacturers, generate good-paying jobs with strong benefits, and increase household income for hardworking Americans interconnected by the HTP’s broad-based opportunities.”
