Emergency sewer repair prompts closures along Marina Bay Drive in League City, Texas
(UI) — An urgent sewer line repair near Marina Bay Drive in League City will lead to temporary sidewalk and driveway closures. A leak was discovered in a 50-year-old sewer force main near Clear Creek High School, requiring immediate action to prevent disruptions to sewage service for much of the city's east side.
Crews will soon begin installing a 24-inch bypass pipe along the west side of Davis Road and the north side of Marina Bay Drive. This temporary system will remain in place for three to four months until the new sewer main is completed.
The project will impact local businesses and residents. Some driveway entrances to business centers on Marina Bay Drive, between Davis Road and Dunkin’ Donuts, will be closed. Efforts are being made to keep access to these businesses open.
In the nearby Bayou Brae subdivision, road ramps and plates will be installed at both entrances to keep them accessible during construction. Drivers are urged to slow down as they approach these areas.
For Clear Creek High School and Intermediate School students, sidewalk closures will make walking to school unsafe. The City of League City is working with the school district to provide bus transportation for affected students starting October 15.
The city appreciates residents’ and businesses' patience during these necessary repairs.
