California’s EVMWD secures $102 million grant for septic-to-sewer conversion projects
Lake Elsinore, Calif. (UI) — The Elsinore Valley Municipal Water District (EVMWD) has secured $102 million in grant funding to support its septic-to-sewer conversion projects in the Sedco Hills and Avenues communities.
This funding, awarded by the State Water Resources Control Board, will fully cover the installation costs of critical infrastructure improvements, benefiting thousands of residents.
After over a decade of pursuing funding, EVMWD overcame multiple challenges to secure the $23 million for the Avenues project and $79 million for Sedco Hills. These projects aim to improve public health, protect the environment, and increase property values, with completion set for December 2026.
“This grant is a significant victory for our community,” said EVMWD Board President Chance Edmonson. “It allows us to address longstanding infrastructure needs without burdening our residents with high costs. We are dedicated to finding innovative ways to serve our community and protect our environment.”
The projects will replace septic systems with modern sewer infrastructure, reducing water pollution and eliminating the need for costly septic maintenance. EVMWD’s ongoing effort to secure grant funding reflects its commitment to providing essential services while minimizing the financial burden on ratepayers.
The State Water Resources Control Board provided the full funding for these projects.
