Saskatchewan receives $51 million investment for water, wastewater infrastructure upgrades

(UI) — Communities throughout the Canadian province of Saskatchewan are set to undergo crucial upgrades to their water and wastewater infrastructure thanks to a joint investment exceeding $51 million from the federal and provincial governments.

This investment, announced by Minister Dan Vandal and Minister Don McMorris, aims to ensure the continued availability of safe drinking water and effective wastewater treatment for generations to come.

Minister Vandal emphasized the importance of these investments in upgrading critical infrastructure across Saskatchewan, highlighting their role in enhancing essential services and meeting the demands of growing communities. Similarly, Government Relations Minister Don McMorris emphasized the immediate and long-term benefits of the new and improved infrastructure, setting communities on a path for continued growth and renewal.

Among the projects receiving funding is the Village of Craven's water treatment facility upgrades, which will enhance water supply and treatment capabilities to comply with federal and provincial regulations. Additionally, funding will support the construction of a sewage lagoon in the Town of Vonda, ensuring wastewater treatment needs are met while supporting expansion and environmental protection. The Town of Redvers will also see upgrades to its water treatment plant, enhancing contaminant removal and increasing water storage capacity to accommodate growth.

The mayors and administrators of these communities expressed their gratitude for the investment, highlighting the importance of these projects in ensuring compliance with regulations, providing high-quality services to residents, and minimizing ratepayer costs. These projects align with the vision for a green Prairie economy, promoting prosperity, sustainability, and improved quality of life for all residents through infrastructure investment.
