Sewer construction to temporarily close Parkers Mill and Cross Keys roads in Lexington, Ky.

KENTUCKY (UI) — Parts of Parkers Mill and Cross Keys roads will be closed beginning on June 24 for sanitary sewer construction.

Parkers Mill Road will be closed for approximately one week from Williamsburg Road to Traveller Road. Drivers can use Versailles Road, Alexandria Drive, Darien Drive and Lane Allen Road as a detour route.

Cross Keys Road will be closed from Parkers Mill Road to Traveller Road for approximately one month. Drivers can use the same detour route as the Parkers Mill closure. When Parkers Mill Road reopens, the detour for Cross Keys will move to more minor streets and be shorter. Signage in the area will direct drivers to the new detour route.

Drivers are reminded to drive slowly around detour routes and construction areas and watch for pedestrians and workers. Access to homes in the area will be maintained during construction.

Construction is part of the Parkers Mill trunk sanitary sewer project, which will increase the size of approximately 5,000 feet of sanitary sewer pipe from Alexandria Drive and Devonport Drive that crosses Versailles Road and ends near Cross Keys Park. This project is part of the federal consent decree requirements for Lexington to improve its sanitary sewer system.
