Energy Transfer barred from blocking Williams’ natural gas pipeline, Louisianna judge rules

(UI) – A Louisiana district court ruled that Energy Transfer LP cannot prevent Williams Cos. from constructing a natural gas pipeline that crosses Energy Transfer's conduit in Louisiana.

The ruling supports Williams' Louisiana Energy Gateway project, aimed at transporting gas from the Haynesville shale basin to the Gulf Coast. Energy Transfer, which is expanding its Gulf Run system, can still block Williams from using the open-cut method for pipeline installation.

Energy Transfer has previously engaged in legal disputes over pipeline construction rights, settling one with Momentum Midstream and losing another to DT Midstream Inc. Williams views the ruling as a positive step toward meeting energy demands in Louisiana and the nation but is still awaiting further decisions on other crossings.
