Repair work begins on damaged sewer line in Rexburg, Idaho, after construction incident

(UI) — Rexburg officials have reported ongoing efforts to repair a damaged sewer line, which was struck by a contractor working on the U.S. Highway 20 project on Aug. 22, according to EastIdahoNews.com.

Scott Johnson, a spokesperson for the city, told EastIdahoNews that crews are actively working to locate and address the break, though they are facing challenges due to water flow interfering with their progress.

Residents are currently advised to halt all activities that contribute to the drainage system, including both indoor and outdoor water usage. However, Johnson said that the water remains safe for consumption by the public.

Repair teams are expected to continue their work through the night. An estimated completion time for the repairs has not yet been determined. Johnson expressed gratitude for the community’s patience and cooperation during this process.
