Contractors Recognized for Work on Sewer, Stormwater Projects

David Mancini & Sons, Inc. and Yerba Buena Engineering & Construction, Inc. have received Gordian’s 2017 Harry H. Mellon Award of Excellence in Job Order Contracting for their work on a storm water drainage project in Miami, Fla. and a sewer rehabilitation project in San Mateo, Calif., respectively.
David Mancini & Sons helped the city of Miami make storm water drainage improvements on Indian Creek Drive by constructing a temporary concrete seawall and dewatering pumps to reduce flooding during the annual “king-tides.”
Yerba Buena Engineering & Construction helped the County of San Mateo Department of Public Works repair a six-inch pipeline that leaked sewage to Emerald Lake because of heavy winter rains in less than five days.
The Harry H. Mellon Award is an annual award recognizing innovative uses of job order contracting. Projects are judged on their adherence to industry principles, innovation, complexity, special circumstances and overall time and cost savings. Judging is conducted by a panel of job order contracting experts and past award winners.
