Fiber Broadband Association Releases White Paper on Fiber and 5G
The Fiber Broadband Association has released a new white paper, “The Road to 5G is Paved with Fiber,” on the necessity of fiber broadband for 5G networks. The paper explains how more wireline fiber—and a substantial amount of it—will be needed to support the next generation of our wireless networks.
To mark the release of this unprecedented research, on Dec. 12, 2017, the association brought together a panel of industry experts together to discuss the paper’s findings as well as the significance of fiber broadband to 5G. Speakers included Heather Burnett Gold, President and CEO of the Fiber Broadband Association; Mark Boxer, Applications Engineering Manager at OFS; Gregg Logan, Vice President of Engineering at Telapex, Inc.; Kevin Morgan, Chief Marketing Officer at Clearfield; Ellen Satterwhite, Vice President at the Glen Echo Group; and David E. Young, Vice President of Public Policy at Verizon.
“Fiber broadband is an integral part of the 5G story, and we are glad to be telling that story and sharing this key research,” said Burnett Gold, President and CEO of the Fiber Broadband Association. “Fiber-connected 5G can and will accelerate the connected future for our country, our businesses, and our communities.”
