Con Edison Wins ReliabilityOne Award for the Northeast Region

On Nov. 29, 2017 in New Orleans, Louisiana, PA Consulting Group, Inc. recognized Con Edison the recipient of the 2017 ReliabilityOne™ Award for Outstanding Reliability Performance in the Northeast Region. ReliabilityOne™ Awards are given annually to utilities achieving outstanding reliability performance in delivering the most reliable electric service to their customers.

“Con Edison’s 4-year, $1 billion storm-hardening program, started after Superstorm Sandy, has already prevented 250,000 outages to date,” said Michele O’Connell, Con Edison’s VP for Staten Island and Electric Services. “Our new, 5-year, smart meter program, beginning this year, will increase reliability by giving us new state-of-the-art technology, inform us of outages as they occur, and help us to restore power faster than ever before.”

All large utilities operating electric delivery networks in North America are eligible for consideration for the ReliabilityOne™ Award. There are a total of seven regional awards including Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, Midwest, Plains, Mountains, West, and Southeast. The selection of provisional recipients is based primarily on system reliability statistics that measure the frequency and duration of customer outages. After provisional recipients are selected, each company undergoes an on-site certification process that provides an independent review and confirmation of the policies, processes and systems used to collect, analyze and report a company’s reliability results.

“New technology innovations are enhancing electric customers’ reliability experience,” said Gregg Edeson, PA Consulting Group’s ReliabilityOne™ program director. “Con Edison is committed to providing accurate and timely updates to customers, showcasing the importance of effective service.”
