8/9/2016
With National 811 Day happening this week, here are some more activities and events that are helping to promote the toll-free, call-before-digging phone number and its important damage prevention message:
- An inaugural 811 Block Party will take place from 4 to 7 pm on Thursday, Aug. 11 in the Kansas City, MO, Power & Light District. Immediately following the block party, Dwight Yoakam will perform in a free concert at the Power & Light District’s KC Live! venue.
- The 811 Run returns to Bloomington, MN, on Saturday, Aug. 13 with a 5K run/walk around Lake Calhoun starting at 8:11 a.m., followed by a kids fun run, and then an awards ceremony, prize giveaway and safety fair. All proceeds will go to Twin Cities Firefighters’ Operation Warm, an organization that provides winter coats to children in need.
- Arvada, CO, is holding its first 811 Run, in a family friendly spirit on Saturday, August 13. The certified 5k run/walk for all family members (including four-legged, furry ones) starts at 8:11 a.m. and will be immediately followed by an awards presentation and a safety expo.
