American Augers Introduces Powerful Compact Fluid-Cleaning System

American Augers has introduced a new horizontal directional drilling (HDD) fluid-cleaning system that combines compact size with impressive capacity.
The M300DH is small enough to fit in space-restricted areas on job sites and has the power to clean and circulate drilling fluids for any brand of drill with 100,000 to 240,000 pounds of pullback, said Richard Levings, American Augers product manager.
“First cut cleaning capacity is rated up to 300 U.S. gallons per minute (gpm) of 11- to 13-pound drilling mud,” said Levings. “Some cleaning system manufacturers rate capacities based on the cone volume ratings of water, but users discover when they get on a job, the system cannot process the volume of mud they require.
“American Augers changed the way it rates its cleaning systems to the actual amount of high solids drilling fluids a mud system can process across the first cut screens, rather than clean water through the cones. This allows contractors to buy the cleaner they need to be successful.”
M300DH is equipped with Derrick Equipment Company’s Hyperpool single-deck, four-panel linear motion shaker, which has a new design that makes changing screens simple and fast. There are three, dedicated centrifugal pumps to ensure adequate flow and pressure to all functions. Tank agitation prevents solids from settling in each tank compartment.
The mixing system utilizes an advanced venturi jet to improve shearing efficiency and provide yielded bentonite on an as-needed basis. A wide variety of shaker screen sizes adjust cleaning needs based on soil conditions.
Dimensions of the unit (without trailer) are 20.3 feet long, 8 feet wide, and 10.2 feet high. The screen tank capacity is 1,700 U.S. gallons, and the clean fluid/mixing tank holds 1,300 U.S. gallons. The T4F generator set is quiet enough to operate in noise-sensitive areas.
