MAB Basic HDPE Repair Options-MAB-4 details the various methods and steps for repairing a high-density polyethylene (HDPE) pipeline in the field. Published by the Municipal Advisory Board (MAB), with assistance from the Plastics Pipe Institute Inc. (PPI), the document is available free of charge at plasticpipe.org.
Intended as a guide for engineers, users, contractors, code officials and others in the repair of HDPE pressure water piping systems, MAB-4 includes repairs using electrofusion, fusion and mechanical systems. Two quick-reference charts delineate the alternatives that can be considered.
MAB serves as an independent, non-commercial adviser to the Municipal & Industrial Division of PPI. •
