Pro Pipe, Perma-Liner Partner to Expand Lateral Lining Services

Professional Pipe Services Inc. (Pro Pipe), a leader in underground pipeline assessment and repair, and Perma-Liner Industries, a leading manufacturer and supplier of trenchless pipeline rehabilitation equipment and materials, are partnering to provide main/lateral connection lining services nationwide.

As municipalities seek to reduce the impact of inflow and infiltration (I&I) on the broader wastewater collection system, service laterals – particularly around the mainline connection – have received greater attention. Only through holistic assessment and rehabilitation, which must include laterals, can I&I be minimized. Historically, many municipalities have had limited access to technologies that sealed laterals from the mainline to the property line or foundation, which is necessary to effectively reduce I&I.  Fortunately, technology advancements now provide the ability to perform lateral lining directly from the mainline sewer, enabling municipalities to take greater control of the entire rehabilitation process. Perma-Liner’s InnerSeal is a cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) technology used in collection systems throughout North America to repair the connection from the mainline, while simultaneously renewing the lateral.

The one-piece, structural, new continuous liner incorporates 100-percent solids epoxy (environmentally friendly) with adhesive properties and hydrophilic rubber O-rings embedded between the host pipe and the liner, to provide a permanent and verifiable non-leaking connection. With more than 50,000 successful installations, the technology has proven to be an effective, non-disruptive and long-lasting, trenchless lateral rehabilitation solution. In its assessment and repair business, Pro Pipe uses advanced robotics and 360-scanning systems to digitally map underground infrastructure and provide scoring for pipeline condition prioritization and assessment. Pro Pipe’s maintenance and rehabilitation solutions include mainline and lateral rehabilitation, pipeline cleaning and hydro-excavation services. It also services some of the nation’s largest cross bore safety programs for the natural gas industry. The new partnership makes Pro Pipe a licensed installer for the Perma-Liner InnerSeal system.

“We have been providing lateral lining CIPP and mainline CIPP for over 20 years, including sectional spot repairs and brim connection liners, so it is only natural that we expand our capabilities to provide the full suite of trenchless rehabilitation services to our customers,” said Dean Monk, director of operations for Mission Viejo, Calif.-based Pro Pipe. “We evaluated a number of full-wrap connection lining technologies and were impressed with Perma-Liner’s long track record and industry leadership.”Perma-Liner, based in Clearwater, Fla., is equally enthusiastic about the partnership being a perfect match.

“Our goal was to identify a national leader in sewer assessment and rehabilitation that we believed would take our InnerSeal technology to new heights,” said  Rob Larsen, sales director. “We found that partner in Pro Pipe, and are readily anticipating the launch and support of its installations with cities and municipalities across the country.”
