McLaughlin On-Target Auger Boring Steering System
The McLaughlin On Target auger boring steering system allows contractors to control the direction of the bore in a lateral movement for improved accuracy. The steering head is controlled by hydraulic actuated panels that keep the bore on the intended path. Auger boring is a cost-efficient way to install steel casings between 12 and 70 inches.
The cutting path — grade and lateral movement — of the steering head is controlled by hydraulic actuated flaps that open and close to keep the head on the intended path.
A built-in vertical alignment sensor provides continuous monitoring of grade, while twin line projection halogen lights enclosed in the steering head offer the ability to check and maintain line throughout the bore.
- Installs on-grade/on-line casings in one pass compared to the multiple passes required with pilot tube guided boring.
- Completes longer on-grade bores compared to other methods, at a reduced cost, while helping contractors complete more bores in a time-efficient manner.
- Check and maintain the line throughout the bore with twin line projection halogen lights enclosed in the steering head.
- Self-contained control station controls the movement of the steering head and all hydraulic, water, and electrical lines.
