Miami-Dade Police Recover Sunbelt Rentals Generator
Sunbelt Rentals in Miami was able to regain possession of their 2013 Doosan generator, which was recovered while in the process of shipment to Haiti.

The generator was uncovered by LoJack, a theft recovery and prevention company. A representative from the company was able to track down the shipping container in which the generator was stored in the ship yard, where it was removed and sent to a customs inspection area.

The Sunbelt Rentals logo had been scratched off the equipment, and it was recovered from the front of the shipping container, covered by household items. The stolen generator was returned to Sunbelt Rentals in Miami.

Auto Theft Detective with the Miami-Dade Police Department Seaport Operation Section, Raisa Beckelheimer, is currently investigating the shipper.

ARA Celebrates 60 Years, Magic Johnson Keynotes at The Rental Show 2016
In March 1955, a group of rental business owners met in Moline, IL, to plant the roots for what is now the American Rental Association (ARA). The group of Midwest business owners made big plans in that first year – plans to bring together rental operators at a general convention for their trade.

“The annual convention was created to bring the members together so they could exchange ideas, learn how to be profitable and purchase new equipment,” said ARA CEO Christine Wehrman.

From Feb. 21 through 24, 2016, that group of founders, the ARA and the annual convention in trade show, will celebrate 60 years of success at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta.

In honor of the 60th anniversary, a $60 registration rate was available through October. Additionally, a $6,000 prize will be awarded to a ARA member and show attendee.

Earvin “Magic” Johnson will also join the show as its keynote speaker. Johnson is an entrepreneur and five-time NBA champion. He is one of only seven athletes in history to win an NCAA Championship, an NBA Championship and an Olympic Gold Medal.

Johnson is also an avid philanthropist, advocate and motivational speaker. Johnson embodies versatility and has the spirit of a fighter, all qualities needed to build a successful rental business. He remains a fighter and continues to use his best assets to his advantage in business, philanthropy and advocacy.

The ARA anniversary and Johnson’s keynote address barely scratches the surface of what The Rental Show 2016 will offer attendees. Show highpoints include:

Over 650 exhibitors will be presenting at the trade show.

A full day of seminars with speakers such as Steve Abercrombie, Barbara Nuss, Nathan Jamail, David McBee and more.

The show’s largest networking event will take place at the Georgia Aquarium on Feb. 23, including an exclusive performance at Dolphin Tales Theatre.

A special Tier 4 Engine education day will offer and opportunity for Tier 4 engine maintenance and troubleshooting workshop, designed for service technicians.
