Illinois to upgrade sewer, water works

A recently launched $1 billion initiative to upgrade sewer lines, water mains and water treatment plants across Illinois will create 9,700 construction jobs in the state, according to Gov. Pat Quinn’s office.

The Environmental Protection Agency estimates the state needs to invest up to $32 billion over the next 20 years to improve drinking water and wastewater infrastructure.
