Vacuum Excavators (Air & Hydro): Equipment Spotlight

Vacuum excavation equipment from Vacmasters, McLaughlin, Vac-Tron Equipment,Super Products, AmeriVac Group, GapVax, Ditch Witch, Vactor and Pacific Tek.

Vacmasters
The new Vacmasters SYSTEM 6000 Air-Vacuum Excavation System is the first air system with the ability to trench and pothole. Engineered and designed from the ground up, the SYSTEM 6000 uses supersonic air from a proprietary nozzle to rapidly and efficiently dig in every soil type. All the components, including the 350 cfm/250 psi compressor, the 1,866 cfm Positive Displacement Blower, and the high pressure water system, are all powered by a single, enclosed John Deere 250-hp turbo diesel engine for quiet, dependable operation. Features include a self-purging filtration system, selectable air or water digging, remote operation up to 200 feet away, fast-acting interceptor canister, fully supervised control panel, 270 degree wireless-remote hose boom, full opening rear door, enclosed power-head and low-maintenance design. The SYSTEM 6000’s ability to use air rather than water when trenching and potholing means the job gets done faster (just 3-5 minutes in most soils), more efficiently (spoils stay dry for backfilling), more economically (mud hauling and disposal costs are eliminated) and much more safely (air won’t damage utilities and is non-conductive). 303.467.3801, www.vacmasters.com

McLaughlin

The Xtreme line of combination air/water vacuum excavators from McLaughlin offer a class leading 1,200 cfm positive displacement blower that provides unsurpassed power in difficult ground conditions. A 99-hp diesel engine produces up to 15 inches of mercury and 3,000 psi of water pressure. Customers can custom build a unit to meet their needs including a choice among 500-, 800- or 1200-gallon spoil tanks and the unit can be set up in either a trailer or skid-mounted configuration. The Xtreme line also features the industry-exclusive, three-stage filtration system that allows for both wet and dry vacuum excavation and customers can customize the unit with the addition of a hot box, arrow board, hydraulic boom and sewer jetter system. 888.837.6337, www.vermeer.com

Vac-Tron Equipment

New remote debris trap pivots from the rear of Vac-Tron Air Series machines. Dry debris is collected during the potholing process, keeping it separate from the main debris tank. After dry potholing, position the remote pivot arm over hole to return dry material without moving the machine. Main debris tank can be used to collect drill slurry or wet materials without contaminating the dry spoils. Gravity feeds materials from a remote trap into drums for storage and/or transportation. A pivot arm also supports remote suction hose for ease of use. 888-VAC-TRON, www.vactron.com

The new Mud Dog 1600 meets the demanding hydro excavation challenges inherent in oil field, mining and cold weather applications. The unit features a 16 cubic yard debris body, standard 1,500-gallon water capacity and rear-mounted boom that in addition to offering 335 degree rotation can pivot down 25 degrees for eight feet of extra digging and access to hard-to-reach areas. The Mud Dog 1600 offers water pressures up to 18 gpm at 3,000 psi in combination with its eight-inch positive displacement vacuum system, providing airflow of 5,800 cfm/28 Hg to ensure thorough clean up of debris. An onboard boiler with 714,000 Btu/Hr capacity heats up the high-pressure water to break up frozen, stubborn material and flush out tight spaces efficiently. Winter recirculation, anti-freeze and air purge systems ensure the unit performs optimally in even the harshest of climates. Its heated aluminum cabinet offers easy access and increased storage capacity. Coupled with Super Products’ ejector plate technology, the unit’s ability to tilt its debris body two feet enables fast, thorough unloading and wash downs. Additionally, the truck-mounted hydro vac relies on a single engine design that can result in lower fuel costs and maintenance requirements, and a simple, easy-to-learn control panel setup. 800.837.9711, www.superproductscorp.com

The FX30 is equipped with a curbside operator’s station that allows single-operator control and more than enough water pressure and suction to perform a myriad of cleanup and soft excavation tasks. Options include a choice of 500- or 800-gallon vacuum tanks and 80-, 200-, or 300-gallon water tanks to meet the requirements of virtually any size cleanup job. With the aid of its 32.8-hp Kubota diesel engine, the FX30 vacuum excavator provides more than enough suction power and water pressure. At 73 dBA, the FX30 is quiet for minimal disturbance in noise-sensitive areas and greater operator comfort. A full-opening rear door with single-point latch provides easy spoils removal. The water pressure can be adjusted from a curbside operator’s station that allows one-person control of all unit functions. System may be ordered from the factory either trailer-mounted or stand-alone, so you can mount it on your own trailer or flatbed truck. and autoclutching feature disengages the water pump when water is not in use, allowing full system power to the blower. 800.654.6481, www.ditchwitch.com
