Sliplining: Underground Solutions
Increasingly, sliplining of compromised water pipelines with Fusible PVC is becoming the preferred method of rehabilitation for water lines in congested suburban centers.
For example, in the Bay Area of northern California, four communities (Santa Cruz, Santa Rosa, Sunnyvale and Atherton) have chosen to slipline deteriorated host pipe for with over 13,000 LF of Fusible PVC pipe ranging from 14 to 20 inches with operating pressures of 80-235 psi. On each project, Fusible PVC was chosen over other thermoplastic pipe materials as it provided a higher flow (internal diameter) that could fit within the host pipe as Fusible PVC had a thinner pipe wall for a given pressure class. A bonus for contractors and owners was easy re-connections with traditional PVC or ductile iron fittings to exiting lines. 858.679.9551, www.undergroundsolutions.com
