Renovations underway for $62-million water pipeline replacement in Charlottesville, Va.
According to 29 News, construction work kicked off Tuesday, May 27 to replace two 70-year-old raw water pipelines in Charlottesville, Virginia.
The Rivanna Water and Sewer Authority (RWSA) has chosen Thalle Construction Company for the project. Thalle will replace the two aging pipelines with one new four-mile-long pipeline. Thalle will also install a new water pumping station as part of the overhaul.
The RWSA has stated that the $62-million project is crucial to ensure clean water access for the community and safety in the future, should any issues occur.
RWSA's Communication and Outreach Coordinator, Westley Kern, said that the project is one of many in the works to expand the capacity and resiliency of the community's water infrastructure.
