Mina, NY granted $10 million in funding to build new wastewater, sanitary sewer systems
According to WRFA Radio, The town of Mina is receiving funding to construct a new wastewater treatment and sanitary sewer collection system.
The $10 million from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation’s Water Quality Improvement Project (WQIP) grant program will go toward the construction and remove properties from failing onsite systems, WRFA Radio reported. The project also will reduce the amount of phosphorus entering Findley Lake.
According to the New York Department of Environmental Conservation, its Water Quality Improvement Project (WQIP) program is a competitive, statewide reimbursement grant program open to local governments and not-for-profit corporations for construction/implementation projects.
This follows recent news on December 23, 2024, where Governor Hochul announced over $222 million in Water Quality Improvement Project (WQIP) grants across the State. The grants will support projects that protect drinking water, combat contributors to harmful algal blooms, update aging water infrastructure, and improve habitat in communities statewide.
