Lumos expands fiber-optic internet to Florida with 7,500-mile network

(UI) — Lumos is expanding its 100% fiber-optic internet service to Florida, investing in nearly 7,500 miles of infrastructure to connect over 30 communities. The expansion marks the company's eighth state of operation and will provide high-speed internet to nearly 500,000 homes and small businesses.

"Reliable, high-speed connectivity isn’t just a luxury—it’s essential," said Lumos CEO Brian Stading. "We’re excited to bring our 100% fiber-optic internet to Florida and become a trusted, community-focused partner for years to come."

Lumos will be the first fiber provider in select markets across the state, including Osceola, Escambia, Citrus, Lee, Pinellas, and Charlotte counties. Engineering work is underway, with construction set to begin soon.

Local officials have welcomed the investment, highlighting its potential to boost economic growth, improve online learning, and expand digital access.

"High-speed internet access is no longer a want—it is a need to ensure a community thrives," said Steve L. Howard, Citrus County administrator.

Residents will receive mail notifications once construction begins and can follow Lumos’ social channels for updates.
