Funding approved for $1.3 billion, 60-mile water reuse system in southern Utah

(UI) — Plans for a large-scale water reuse network in southern Utah are moving forward after the Utah Division of Water Resources approved $195 million toward the project, according to ABC4.
The multi-phase initiative, estimated at $1.3 billion, will add more than 60 miles of pipeline, four reservoirs, expanded reclamation plants, and a new advanced purification facility. Zachary Renstrom, general manager of the Washington County Water Conservancy District, said the system has been in development for two decades and will capture water already processed through local treatment facilities for reuse.
Renstrom told ABC4 the community is already supportive of reuse, citing its safety record and strict treatment standards.
