El Paso Water to use trenchless technology for water line rehabilitation project in April
(UI) – El Paso Water will begin a six-month water line rehabilitation project on April 1st, prompting lane closures, detours and traffic disruptions. Using trenchless technology, El Paso Water aims to minimize public impact.
The water rehabilitation project will replace aging infrastructure along the westbound lanes on Montana Avenue, between East Paisano Drive and Airway Boulevard. According to a company statement, El Paso Water will use trenchless technology, “a less invasive construction method, to insert a special liner inside a 70-year-old cast iron water pipe. The project will restore the pipe to near-new condition and extend the pipe’s life by 30-50 years.”
The rehabilitation project will be completed in two phases, each lasting roughly 12 weeks. El Paso Water will install an above-ground water line while underground construction takes place to maintain water service to affected customers.
In addition to the Montana Avenue rehabilitation project, El Paso Water is also pursuing pipeline and stormwater projects in the area.
