Tyco Fire Products to pay $750 million in proposed PFAS settlement impacting public water systems

(UI) — Angeion Group has disclosed a proposed settlement with Tyco Fire Products LP in a class action lawsuit affecting all active public water systems in the United States as of May 15, 2024.

The litigation involves allegations related to Impacted Water Sources showing measurable concentrations of PFAS, substances linked to water contamination.

Under the terms, Tyco has agreed to pay $750 million, subject to final court approval and specified conditions. The settlement aims to provide compensation to eligible Class Members through a Claims Administrator overseen by a Special Master.

Individuals affected by the litigation have options to participate in the settlement by submitting a Claims Form or to opt out by September 23, 2024. The final decision on the settlement's fairness and adequacy will be determined at the Final Fairness Hearing scheduled for November 1, 2024, in Charleston, South Carolina.
