Coastal Alabama to receive $30 million for sewer and stormwater improvements
(UI) — Governor Kay Ivey has announced nearly $30 million in funding for sewer, stormwater, and water quality improvement projects in Coastal Alabama.
The projects, funded through the Gulf of Mexico Energy Security Act of 2006 (GoMESA), aim to enhance infrastructure and address critical environmental needs.
“Working closely with Commissioner Blankenship and his team at the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural resources,” said Governor Ivey. “We have secured more than $30 million dollars to fund the projects that improve and beautify this region we all love. With this announcement, more than $210 million dollars in GoMESA projects have been awarded during the Ivey Administration.”
The funds will support various infrastructure upgrades designed to improve water management and reduce environmental risks. Administered by the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, these projects are part of a broader effort to enhance the quality of life in Coastal Alabama.
