Countdown Begins for the Industry’s Most Important Business Event of the Year – UCT!

Underground Construction Technology International Conference & Exhibition (UCT) is returning to Fort Worth, Texas, from Jan. 29-31, 2019. The pre-UCT educational seminars and workshops (CUIRE, NASSCO and the brand new I&I ElimiNATION conference) will be held Monday, Jan. 28 and the morning of Tuesday, Jan. 29, before the main UCT program begins.

The natural synergies between equipment and technologies, and case studies and seminars make for a focused, effective and extremely beneficial program. We are proud to present substantive content that brings value to attendees and exhibitors. The idea behind UCT is to provide everyone involved in maintaining and building the underground utility pipe infrastructure with solid, comprehensive training that is unbiased, relevant and can be applied at the job site immediately.

The main program qualifies for up to 25 PDHs (Professional Development Hours) granted by the University of Texas at Arlington. Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are available, too. A day-long conference on Infiltration and Inflow (I&I) elimination, presented by several industry personnel
This preconference session is one-of-a-kind. First and foremost, it’s focused on a single topic, yet a subject that carries huge and often-overlooked implications for any sewer system. The Underground Construction Technology Association (UCTA) North Texas Chapter is putting a new spin on the annual UCTA Scholarship Golf Tournament. For 2019, the outing will be held at Topgolf Fort Worth. Topgolf features high-tech, climate-controlled hitting bays, a chef-inspired menu and makes connecting with your peers a sport for everyone. You have to eat, you may even want to entertain clients. Do both at the UCTA North Texas Chapter’s golf outing on Tuesday, Jan. 29!
All proceeds benefit the North Texas UCTA’s college scholarship program.
This event is open to everyone. The fee is $125, and includes dinner and golf. It begins after the UCT exhibit hall closes. Details on the golf outing will be available at uctaonline.org.

Quality Education at a Great Rate

Employers looking to send multiple employees to UCT for training can do so at a great rate.

Groups of two to 10 may attend the UCT main program (Jan. 29-31) for the low rate of $495. The daily rate (Tues. or Wed. only) is $275. CUIRE, NASSCO and the I&I conference are not eligible for this special rate.

The rate includes the main UCT educational sessions, access to PDHs, equipment and product demonstrations in the exhibit hall, lunch on Tuesday and Wednesday, UCT networking functions and unlimited access to the RehabZone.

For one employee, the rate is $395 and includes the items mentioned above. Exhibit hall only registration is complimentary and does not include any educational seminars.

Municipal and government employees may take advantage of UCT’s Municipal Partnership Program and attend the main UCT program for free. The Center for the Underground Infrastructure Research & Education (CUIRE) will hold its 17th annual engineering and inspecter training and certification schools Jan. 28-29, 2019, at the Fort Worth Convention Center in Fort Worth, Texas.
These schools are designed specifically for personnel in the underground utilities construction and rehabilitation industry. Course instruction will be provided by notable industry experts.

Advanced Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) School (Part One). Planning and design of large, mid- and small-size HDD projects from inception to closeout and delivery. The school will include talks on pipe loads, bore planning, drilling fluids and case studies.

Geotechnical School (Part One). Geotechnical requirements for both trenchless and open-cut applications, soft soils and rock investigations methods, and how ground conditions will impact trenchless feasibility and productivity.
Pipe School (Part 1). This school will cover applications, capabilities, manufacturing, standards, advantages and limitations of each type of pipe, such as steel, ductile iron, vitrified clay, PVC, HDPE, fiberglass, life cycle costing, etc., and new developments in pipe materials and joining systems.

1:00 -5:00 p.m.
Advanced Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) School (Part Two). The second part of this school will include construction projects of all sizes, plus tracking, locating and case studies.

Geotechnical School (Part Two). Planning, geotechnical reporting and contracting requirements for trenchless technologies in different ground conditions.
Pipe School (Part Two). The second part of this school will cover applications, capabilities, manufacturing, standards, advantages and limitations of PVC, HDPE, fiberglass and new developments in these pipe materials and joining systems.

Tuesday, Jan. 29

Pipe Lining and Renewal School. This school will cover pipe lining methods including cured-in-place pipes, sliplining, modified sliplining (panel lining), close-fit, spray-in-place pipe and other methods. This school will also cover planning, design, construction, inspection and QA/QC.

Microtunneling and Pilot Tube School. This school will cover planning, design and construction of Microtunneling Methods (MT) and Pilot Tube and Other Guided Boring Methods (PTGBM), and will include case studies. A discussion of new ASCE Microtunneling Standards and Manual of Practice on PTGBM will be presented by authors.

Presented by the National Association of Sewer Service Companies (NASSCO), this two-day comprehensive course will provide thorough instruction on PACP coding procedures. Items covered include:
Coding procedures
Technical issues affecting rate of pipeline deterioration
Implementation of the PACP sewer pipeline grading system
Q & A session to clarify the program
Course instructor: TBD
In order to ensure the content of the PACP has been adequately conveyed to the student, a certification examination will be given to complete the course. Registration for the NASSCO PACP includes complimentary access to the UCT main program.

PACP Trainer Course (Certification & Recertification)
Limited to 4 attendees
Cost: $750 (certification)*; $250 (recertification)*
NASSCO’s PACP Trainer Course is designed for current PACP 7.0 trainers who need to be recertified, and PACP users who have fulfilled the prerequisites to become trainers. This session will ensure the candidate is able to correctly arrange for, conduct and complete PACP classes, and is knowledgeable in all areas. Attendees must own and bring a current version of the PACP 7.0 manual to class.
*Registration for this course is subject to NASSCO approval. Attendees must submit a resume and a letter stating why he or she would like to be certified or recertified.
