Washington Water Service’s Schlender Receives Drinking Water Week Commitment to Excellence Award

Washington Water Service’s (Washington Water) Water Quality Manager Carol Schlender has received the Drinking Water Week Commitment to Excellence award from the Washington State Department of Health (DOH).

The Drinking Water Week Commitment to Excellence award is given to an individual water system or operator each year by the Washington DOH for efforts to provide safe and reliable drinking water to customers.

Schlender, nominated by DOH’s Office of Drinking Water, won the award for her attention to detail, dedication to staying on top of drinking water regulations, and meticulous record-keeping, according to the agency.

“We are committed to providing quality, service, and value to our customers and communities, and one way we deliver that is to have employees who are experts in their fields and dedicated to this promise,” said Martin A. Kropelnicki, President and CEO of Washington Water. “I am proud that Carol has been recognized with this honor by the Department of Health, as she works tirelessly to ensure our customers continue to have a clean, safe water supply that meets all federal and state water quality standards.”

Taking place May 6-12, 2018, Drinking Water Week is an annual initiative of the American Water Works Association.
