Virginia Regulator Target of Intimidation Attempt by Pipeline Protesters

NORFOLK, Va. (AP) – A member of Virginia’s water board says opponents of two proposed natural gas pipelines are trying to intimidate her.

The Virginian-Pilot reports that a banner reading “Stop Poisoning Our Community!” was hung on the front porch of State Water Control Board Vice Chair Heather Wood’s home.

Wood has voted in favor of granting certification to the Mountain Valley Pipeline and the Atlantic Coast Pipeline, with some additional conditions.

She said she viewed the banner as an attempt to intimate her and influence her vote.

Both Norfolk Police and the Virginia State Police are investigating.
