Indiana Utility Commission Chairman to Retire in January
NDIANAPOLIS (AP) — The chairman of the Indiana commission that oversees utility companies is retiring after less than a year on the job.
Gov. Eric Holcomb announced Monday that Jim Atterholt will retire on Jan. 12 as chairman of the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission.
Holcomb had appointed Atterholt to the post last February, but it wasn’t his first time as IURC chairman.
Then-Gov. Mitch Daniels appointed Atterholt the panel’s chairman in 2010. He served until 2014, when he became then-Gov. Mike Pence’s chief of staff through 2016.
Atterholt says he’s leaving public service with mixed emotions after three decades, including two terms in the Indiana House of Representatives.
He says his wife, Brenda, is transferring her job to Fort Myers Beach, Florida and they “are looking forward to life at a slower pace.”
