Water Pressure Being Restored After Detroit-Area Main Break

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. (AP) — Officials say water pressure has been restored to most communities following a suburban Detroit water main break that kept students home from dozens of schools for a second day.

The Great Lakes Water Authority says only a section of Farmington Hills with 35,000 residents didn’t have water pressure fully restored Wednesday.

The break of a 48-inch (122-centimeter) line Monday in Farmington Hills that serves customers in western Oakland County prompted a boil water advisory for about a dozen communities. Officials say the advisory is expected to last until at least Friday evening as repairs are made.

Sections of replacement pipe were delivered Wednesday morning.

Henry Ford West Bloomfield Hospital says outpatient clinics are reopening, using boiled water, but elective procedures were canceled Wednesday for a second day.
