Broken Water Main Fixed in Alabama Town

CUBA, Ala. (AP) — A broken water main left part of an Alabama community with little or no water for two weeks, but the pipe is now fixed.

WTOK-TV reports that water service was restored over the weekend for nearly 40 households in Sumter County’s Cuba area.

Some customers got water back soon after the main broke on Sept. 24.

Sumter County Water Authority manager Dexter Arrington says others lived on elevated property where it was harder to restore pressure and service.

He says the break was in marshland with limited access, and a contractor specialized in directional drilling was needed to complete the work.
