Connecticut Water Service Makes Leadership Changes
The Board of Directors of Connecticut Water Service, Inc., announced today they have accepted the resignation of Eric W. Thornburg as Chairman, President and CEO, and unanimously appointed David C. Benoit to serve as the Interim President and CEO of the company, its Connecticut operating subsidiaries, and CEO of its Maine subsidiary, effective immediately. Thornburg will remain with the company through October 15.
Benoit, who is a Certified Public Accountant and holds an MBA from the University of Hartford and an undergraduate degree from Central Connecticut State University, currently serves as the company’s Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. He has more than 30 years of experience with regulated utility companies, including gas and electric, and has served as Connecticut Water Service’s CFO for 21 years. During his tenure, Benoit has been instrumental in driving the company’s business strategy and ensuring the financial integrity of the organization. He has played a key role in the more than 30 acquisitions, including the large acquisitions in Maine in 2012, and two acquisitions in Connecticut this year.
In other news, Carol P. Wallace was elected to serve as Chairman of the Board. Wallace has served on the board since 2003 and has been Connecticut Water Service’s Lead Independent Director since 2013. She has an extensive business background, serving as the President and CEO of the Cooper-Atkins Corporation, a provider of temperature monitoring systems for the global food service and healthcare markets.
