North Carolina Rest Stop Closure Extended to Fix Water Line

BURLINGTON, N.C. (AP) — A broken water line means it will take a little longer to reopen the restrooms at a North Carolina rest stop.
The N.C. Department of Transportation says in a news release that work crews from the city of Burlington need more time to repair the pipe that provides water to the rest stops on Interstate 85/40 in Alamance County near Elon. That means the restrooms will remain closed for an additional workday.
The rest areas are three miles west of Burlington near mile marker 139. Custodial staff discovered the broken line last week.
The rest area remains open for travelers, but the restrooms will remain closed to visitors until 5 p.m. Wednesday, instead of opening at 7 a.m. as previously planned.
