Eversource Starts Pipeline Construction Project in Connecticut
Eversource Energy has started construction on a multi-phase project that will improve the reliability of the company’s natural gas distribution lines in Connecticut
The company will invest $14 million in 2017 on the first phase of a 17-mile-long project that, once completed, will connect existing gas mains in Wallingford and Middletown. The project also will enable Eversource to add service in Durham, where the company currently does not provide natural gas service, and expand availability of service in Middlefield
The first phase of construction involves the installation of 5.6 miles of pipeline from Wallingford east along Route 68 to the Durham line, with work expected to be completed by the end of November. During the second phase, scheduled to start next spring, crews will install approximately eight miles of gas lines from Middletown south along Route 17 to the intersection with Route 68 in Durham. The final phase of the project, which will start in spring 2019, consists of connecting the two natural gas pipelines.
