GridLiance Hires Utility Industry Veteran as VP of Corporate Development

GridLiance, the nation’s first independent transmission company primarily focused on working with Public Power, has named utility-industry veteran Kevin Donnelly as vice president of Corporate Development.

Donnelly joins GridLiance with more than 20 years of utility industry experience, including in the financial areas of strategy, mergers and acquisitions and forecasting. At GridLiance, Donnelly will lead GridLiance’s corporate development efforts, including assessing new business opportunities, exploring regional expansion, and leading large transaction negotiations.

“Kevin’s financial talent, extensive experience in managing complex mergers and acquisitions, and broad industry knowledge will help GridLiance identify and secure ideal projects as the company expands its footprint,” said Carl Huslig, senior vice president of Corporate and Business Development, GridLiance. “Kevin brings a sharp approach to negotiating partnered transactions and we are thrilled to have him join the company.”

During his career, Donnelly has managed strategic projects and mergers and acquisitions in electric, pipeline, midstream gas processing, real estate, and telecommunications, both domestically and internationally. Before joining GridLiance, Donnelly served as the former managing director at Duke Energy Corporation.  While at Duke, Donnelly was involved with the corporation’s separation and spin-off of Duke Energy’s wholly-owned subsidiary, Spectra Energy Corporation. Before Duke, he worked at Central and South West Corporation prior to its merger with American Electric Power, where he led the company’s strategic initiatives into the entry of the United Kingdom’s electricity market with the acquisition of SEEBOARD PLC. Donnelly has also served as interim chief financial officer for the Upper Peninsula Power Company, an electric utility serving two-thirds of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.

“While I’ve been involved in various aspects of the energy and utility industries, I am excited to be a meaningful part of a company that supports Public Power; an area of the industry that has traditionally been overlooked when it comes to transmission development,” said Donnelly. “I look forward being a part of the GridLiance team and standing behind its mission.”
