Flooding Wreaks Havoc in Idaho
GARDEN CITY, Idaho (AP) — Flood water continued to run onto more streets along the Boise River in Garden City, Idaho over the weekend.
KTVB-TV reports (http://bit.ly/2pnYysV ) that with the river already above flood stage, an uprooted tree fell into the water on Friday. Since then, it moved several blocks downstream, causing major flooding in an area filled with businesses, warehouses and mobile homes.
Within just a few hours on Saturday afternoon, the water rose several inches. The Ada County Highway District shut down some streets.
More than three blocks were inundated with water on Saturday night.
Officials say pumping water out won’t work because there’s no place to put it.
Sand bags are in high demand. Over the weekend, Garden City residents can fill sand bags themselves at Expo Idaho.
