Ductile Iron Pipe Research Association Supports New York Water Infrastructure Bill

The Ductile Iron Pipe Research Association recently praised New York Governor Andrew Cuomo for his commitment to restoring the quality of the state’s water infrastructure following the signing of the Clean Water Infrastructure Improvement Act.

“We applaud Governor Cuomo and the New York State legislature for enacting this important legislation that will help improve water infrastructure in communities across the state,” said Patrick Hogan, president of DIPRA. “Water infrastructure should be safe, reliable and built to last,”  “Community leaders should expect that their water infrastructure will be in continuous service for more than a century.  This has been our legacy with, first, cast iron pipes that served reliably for a century or more, and now with modern Ductile pipe that has equally long lifespan plus even greater energy efficiency. For citizens of New York and their officials, these are smart, economical investments that will protect public health and the environment for many generations to come.”

Siena College poll released last month found that more than two-thirds of New Yorkers approve of the $2.5 billion water infrastructure initiative, which will provide funding for water and sewer infrastructure improvements across the state.
